Our Resort’s History“That’s Amoray!”
The rich diversity of marine life has always been one of the defining traits of our dive resort. Our surrounding reefs and shoals are teeming with breathtaking schools of parrotfish, stingrays, reef sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, and so much more. As it turns out, our name’s origins can be traced to the incredible wildlife of Key Largo.
When Amy Slate - member of the diving hall of fame and avid traveler to the Florida Keys - was taking photos in the water for TIME Magazine in Key Largo, she encountered a special surprise in the shallows: a moray eel! Thinking quick for the camera, Amy held the sea creature above her head and paid homage to both her Italian-American heritage and her passion for marine life, shouting aloud, “That’s-a-moray!” Thus, the name of our resort was coined.
Stop by our on-property food truck from 7:30 am - 5 pm (open every day except for Tuesdays) and enjoy all-American eats with island flair, including hearty breakfast bites, tasty sandwiches, fresh seafood, and fruit smoothies.
